The Weight of the Invisible

"Monumental" is a heavy word. One that carries implications of scale, of grandeur. We inevitably think of size—of something enormous.

But here’s the thing: being monumental isn’t always about dimensions. Monumentality can live in an idea that shakes you, in inspiration that lingers, or in the sheer effort poured into something seemingly simple.

And that duality is what fascinates me as a designer. Because sometimes, a piece of furniture is more than its form or size. It can be monumental because of the stories it carries—the trials, errors, and the relentless dedication behind its creation.

That invisible weight, that narrative, is felt in the final piece. And that’s when something small becomes vast.
