During this past weekend we visited Guadalajara, where we presented Laws of Motion, our most recent collaboration with Breuer, during the 9th edition of Wit Festival de Arte, an event that celebrates the inclusion of art in daily life. The exhibition will run from May 4th – 12 at Wit Galeria inside of Demetria Hotel in Guadalajara Jalisco.
Join us at Diseño y Personas, a series of short conferences where Joel, among others, will discuss and assess the cultural, social and economic impact of design
Organized by Secretaría de Cultura Del Gobierno de Jalisco (Ministry of Culture of Jalisco’s Government), this event will take place on May 3 in the most emblematic forum in Jalisco: the Degollado Theater.
As every year this April Salone Internazionale del Mobile took place in Milan, the largest and most important furniture and design fair in the world, ever since its first edition in 1961 the fair has been shaping the history of design and displaying top-notch and innovative products from all over the world.
For this year’s 58th edition, a special edition of Balance was exhibited by Opinion Ciatti, one of the leading Italian design companies known for its luxurious handmade products, continuing our long collaboration with the Italian brand which began back in 2012.
Balance is part of Joel’s Personal Edition series, a design that challenges the laws of equilibrium and that shows, in each composition, the balance between the technique, the people and the ideas that inspire us.
Canotier is a table designed to highlight the delicate smoothness of every surface, the exquisite turn at the border of the tabletop and how everything is perfectly aligned to provide a subtle equilibrium.
Laws of Motion, our most recent collaboration with Breuer, will be exhibited in the 9th edition of Wit Festival de Arte, an event that celebrates the inclusion of art in daily life. This festival offers cultural enrichment through fairs, exhibitions and various activities.
In this event, Joel will also speak about his work and his trajectory in the design field.

What Design Can Do is an international platform that believes in the power of design and creativity to transform society. This edition will be held for the first time in Mexico, here Miguel Melgarejo, director of innovation at Cirklo, and Joel Escalona will host a breakout session about how design can impact business, society and the environment.
Joel and Miguel will share local insights about how design really works out (or not) through their experience working in Mexico and applying design to generate value.
The breakout session will also be open for a couple of local projects to share how they are using design to generate value and receive feedback from the hosts and the audience. Through this exercise different perspectives on the real use of impactful design will be shared and discussed.
We’re thrilled to announce our participation at this year’s edition of

As every year, the second week of February marked the beginning of Art Week Mexico City. With different events happening around town, we took part in one of the most important ones during this week: ZONAMACO, the leading contemporary art and design fair in Latin America, has been known for showcasing work by the most prominent artists and galleries from around the world. The design section, carefully curated by Cecilia León de la Barra, presented the latest creations by the most important designers in the scene and their collaborations with renowned Mexican companies, as ours with Breuer.
Laws of Motion is Joel’s first collectible design series for Breuer, in which through different typologies like mirrors, tables and seats, the collection articulates flawless production execution on behalf of the company and the level of introspection achieved by Joel Escalona. At first, this collection aims to explore concrete concepts such as gravity, force or movement, and how they can be expressed as design pieces, which at first glance seem static, but hide a second unexpected personal meaning.
This year the fair had around 60,000 visitors, but if you were not one of the lucky attendants, here is a look of what happened during the most important event for art and design in Mexico City.
